Message from the President
What a whirlwind year we have had, don't you agree? This time last year we were filled with anxiety of the unknown healthcare
crisis for our country. The uncertainty of the virus, how to best protect ourselves and those around us as well as dealing with drastic changes of life as we knew it. It is hard to believe a whole year has passed and that we can now begin to see a light at the end of the tunnel. We know that even though there is a light we can
see that we must still be vigilant as we still have a way to go.. I would like to commend each of our members who have strongly and bravely worked through hardships that come with working in a medical facility in these challenging times. Medical Assistants are awesome!

The KSMA Board of Trustees knows the past year has been challenging for continuing your education through offered CEU sessions as we had to cancel the annual conference last year which many of you utilize to get a number of CEU offerings to keep your CMA credential active. The KSMA BOT is sensitive to the needs of our members and are actively making plans to offer VIRTUAL CEU sessions beginning in May.

The 2021 KSMA Conference will be virtual and will take place over 3-4months with 3 CEU offerings per session. These will take place through the Zoom platform and will be on a Saturday each month beginning in May. For this year ONLY, the CEU sessions will be FREE to our KSMA members.

Renewal Of Credentials

The CB would continue to evaluate the situation and if the deadline for CEU submission changes, they will let the members know who would be directly impacted.

"In light of the AAMA office and Prometric test centers closing due to COVID-19, those certifications that were updated to expire June 30, 2020 and those with certifications expiring July 31, 2020, will be extended to August 31, 2020.  The AAMA will be contacting those with certifications expiring in the above time frames with  updated certification information.  You do not need to do anything further."

"Need to Recertify by Continuing Education Before 90 Days Go By?  The 90-day credential expiration policy has been extended to August 31, 2020, for those with expired credentials who are no longer able to recertify by continuing education after March 31, 2020.  Thus, if your credential previously expired and had until March 31, 2020, to recertify by continuing education, you now have until August 31, 2020, to recertify by continuijng education.  The Certifying Board will continue to monitor and evaluate these policies.  We have only limited staff available to meet the high demand of certifying and recertifying CMAs (AAMA), so your patience is appreciated."

They further state that you can earn online CEUs the the e-Learning Center which will update your transcript automatically.  Limited products are available through the AAMA Store but shipping could be delayed.
